With an already jam-packed year of brand collaborations we’ve also got a small archive of début collections to add to the list. One that certainly caught our eyes was Swarovski’s venture into the world of timepieces and, as expected, there is some serious wrist bling here – of the refined kind of course. The brand introduced jewellery for men in 2010 and a natural progression appears to now be in the form of some really sharp and modern watches. They’re slick but classic and we wouldn’t have expected anything less from the Austrian masterminds – they’ve certainly got us saving the pennies for this one.
As Daniel Swarovski once said: “always improve that which is already good”, you can see from the collection that the brand’s expertise with precision has marred almost too well with the talents of Swiss watch-makers. The end result of these modern-classic timepieces is impressive enough, yet the thought of stepping up their game again has already got us itching for the next collection. Impatience is a virtue.
The “Piazza Grande” in it’s automatic form – captured in the above images – is a real winner of craftsmanship. Powered by its own mechanical winding function, which you can see is visible from the back, this watch is a further investment in time with its battery-free capability – so you should be good for a few decades at least. Aside from being technologically advanced, it features only the best specifications and details such as scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass as well as black faceted ceramic [by the dial]. Of course you’ve got your satin-polished stainless steel – standard. However we have got to take a minute to appreciate a bit of navy, a colour often overlooked, but as demonstrated by this style on the right – it’s pretty frickin’ awesome. It retails at £670 so you might have to put that holiday on hold or start dropping hints in time for Father’s Day. Once you feel that blue calf-skin leather on your wrist you’ll know that it’s worth it. Though you’ll have to be extra vigilant against those green-eyed monsters from the likes of us less fortunate folk. Got the time sir?
